On Uttrayan, Sun travels from South to north point. According to astrology, the six months period of the movement of the Sun from Capricorn to Gemini zodiac is called Uttarayan. This festival also shows a sign for all the farmers saying that the sun is back and it’s time for harvesting. Also, it’s famous by the name of Makar Sankranti.

In Gujarat, the festival of Uttarayan is celebrated at a grand level. Kite competition is famous in Gujarat in such a special way that in 2012, Gujarat was about to come in the Guinness world records book.
