Blog

Our last blog said about something called the Internet of Things, Everybody now knows in general, what IoT is.

Now, let’s talk about a newer OS based on the Linux Platform that allows its applications to varied wearable devices to the Smart TV sets, In-Vehicle Infotainment or simply Mobile Phones. Yes, Tizen OS is a source for implementation of IoT.

It’s an adjustable OS, which has its foundation over the Linux Kernel and implements the Linux API. Mobile Application developers, Device Manufactures, Individual Software developers, all can make a perfect use of the Tizen OS.

More than using it individually, the system requires a collaboration of device makers and the system coders to bring up an all new utilization that is purpose specific.

It is written in HTML5, C and C++

This makes it easier for the developers to grab all the benefits of core programming languages used. HTML5 allows users to smoothly integrate the standard web features on mobile devices. The GNU C Library helps develop portable Tizen Apps.

Application not limited to just Smartphones

The OS aims to support multiple devices like intelligent systems in cars, electronic equipments, Smart TVs, Wearable devices and all those appliances that can have the ability to communicate with the web. It is a broader concept which Tizen has made easy for the developers to make use of.

Samsung Intel partnership with the Tizen Association

Samsung teamed up with the EFL project to create a Linux based OS, which was initially called LiMo. It was renamed Tizen after Intel’s joining the project in the year 2011. The board members from many conglomerate companies round the world let the association & Today Tizen has successfully released its version 2.3.

Possible substitute to prior app development platforms

Tizen is lighter than other systems. It’s got lesser memory and power requirements, thus pointing towards faster loading, enables ease in multi tasking. Samsung is now adopting Tizen in its newer smartphone & wearable devices and that is a sign of possibly replacing the Android.

Drawbacks:

  • People are a bit unaware of the Tizen OS and so it is being pulled back from success.
  • It has still not become the first choice of the users.
  • It is in a developing stage and so there are performance backlogs.
  • People need innovation and Tizen is yet to prove itself.

Conclusion:

An operating system yet to make its place in the market may possibly take Android’s place in the future. We are in an era of advancement and Samsung has put forth a step to combine idea and technology. Eyes on Tizen OS for the wearable and other devices!
